We are seeking a Managing Director of Clinical Programs to serve as a senior leader responsible for designing, guiding, and advancing clinical improvement initiatives across our national portfolio.

This is a high-impact, externally facing role that combines executive-level advisory work with direct responsibility for ensuring programs are well-designed, measurable, and effective in practice.

You will help shape how clinical programs are:

You will work directly with health center executives, clinical leaders, funders, and partners to ensure that improvement efforts are not only strategically sound, but operationally realistic and capable of delivering meaningful outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and execution of clinical quality improvement, population health, and practice transformation initiatives across priority areas such as chronic disease management, cancer screening, behavioral health integration, oral health, care coordination, and access
• Serve as a senior advisor to health center executives, CMOs, and clinical leaders on care models, workflows, and performance strategy
• Establish disciplined, repeatable approaches to defining baseline performance, selecting measures, setting targets, and tracking progress
• Ensure programs are clearly scoped, operationally feasible, and aligned with measurable outcomes
• Translate complex clinical, regulatory, and payment requirements into practical program models and implementation strategies
• Partner with analytics and informatics teams to ensure data is accurate, actionable, and used effectively to drive improvement
• Identify when initiatives are drifting or becoming disconnected from outcomes, and help redirect them
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to staff working across clinical programs
• Actively contribute to business development, including shaping proposals, participating in executive-level discussions, and helping convert strategic opportunities into funded work
• Represent HealthEfficient in high-visibility external settings, including conferences, advisory engagements, and partner meetings

This role is not limited to advising on what others should do. You will play a direct role in ensuring that programs are structured and managed in ways that increase the likelihood of successful execution.

This role is best suited for individuals who are comfortable being accountable for both strategy and execution. It is not a purely advisory or observational role.

Preferred Background and Experience

• 10+ years of progressively senior experience in healthcare operations, quality improvement, clinical leadership, or healthcare consulting
• Clinical background preferred, including experience as a licensed provider (MD, DO, NP, PA, RN), with the ability to translate frontline clinical realities into program design, workflow improvement, and performance strategy
• Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), community health centers, or other safety-net providers
• Experience in value-based care or other accountability-driven environments
• Demonstrated success improving clinical performance and guiding organizations through change
• Strong experience designing measurement frameworks and outcome-focused improvement strategies
• Experience advising executives or serving in senior clinical leadership roles (e.g., CMO, Medical Director, Director of Quality, senior consultant)
• Experience with federal- and state-funded programs, including proposal development, reporting requirements. Experience on such projects as a Project Director or Principal Investigator on such projects is a strong plus.
• Strong familiarity with EHR systems and health information technology
• Demonstrated ability to present effectively in high-profile forums, including conferences, executive briefings, and stakeholder settings
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive presence

Compensation

Approximately $190,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with a competitive benefits package.
