Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for Union Sushi located at our new location in Lincoln Park Chicago IL in the United States. The Lead Server will oversee daily service operations, ensure high-quality customer experiences, and support the dining team in providing exceptional service. Responsibilities include overseeing table setups, addressing guest concerns, coordinating with kitchen staff, managing service flow, and mentoring junior staff to ensure efficiency and professionalism.
Qualifications
Minimum 2–3 years of serving experience in a high-volume restaurant
Prior experience in a lead, trainer, or supervisory role preferred
Strong knowledge of:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure
Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
Attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction
Availability for weekdays, weekends and brunch shifts (required)
Must be residing in the United States; candidates in the Chicagoland area preferred
Roles & Responsibilities
• Support and guide servers, bussers, and hosts while stepping in to resolve issues as needed
• Deliver attentive, knowledgeable service while anticipating guest needs and maintaining a high-quality dining experience
• Handle guest concerns professionally and ensure overall satisfaction
• Take accurate orders and coordinate with kitchen and bar for timely, correct execution
• Maintain strong menu knowledge, including specials and recommendations
• Assist with shift setup, breakdown, and section management during busy service
• Train and support new team members on service standards and procedures
• Ensure dining areas are clean, organized, and ready for service at all times
• Monitor table flow and turnover to maximize efficiency
• Support POS operations, order accuracy, and cash handling when needed
• Communicate effectively with management regarding service issues, inventory needs, and guest feedback
