Job Summary:

The Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator is responsible for sourcing ingredients, packaging, and production materials while maintaining accurate inventory visibility across co-manufacturing partners, warehouses, and internal systems. This role ensures uninterrupted production by coordinating with co-packers, suppliers, and logistics partners, while optimizing costs and minimizing waste in a fast-paced beverage environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute purchasing of raw materials (e.g., ingredients, flavorings) and packaging components (e.g., cans, bottles, labels, cartons) 
• Coordinate directly with co-manufacturers (co-packers) to align material availability with production schedules 
• Track inventory across multiple locations, including vendors, co-packers and 3PL warehouses
• Monitor stock levels and forecast demand based on production plans, sales forecasts, and lead times 
• Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials to co-manufacturing sites 
• Manage supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and lead times 
• Close out manufacturing orders within the ERP system, ensuring accurate raw material consumption, yield reporting, and variance reconciliation 
• Reconcile inventory discrepancies and conduct periodic audits with co-manufacturing and warehouse partners 
• Collaborate with operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure accurate costing, COGS, and inventory reporting 
• Identify risks in the supply chain (e.g., ingredient shortages, packaging delays) and proactively develop contingency plans 
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and traceability requirements (e.g., lot tracking, expiration dates) 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
• 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory, or supply chain—preferably in food & beverage or CPG 
• Experience working with co-manufacturers, co-packers, or external production partners strongly preferred 
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems and Excel (including inventory reconciliation and reporting) 
• Experience with manufacturing order processing, material consumption tracking, and variance analysis 
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially with lot tracking and multi-location inventory 
• Strong communication skills for managing cross-functional teams and external partners 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with beverage production or perishable goods 
• Familiarity with demand planning and production scheduling 
• Knowledge of FDA regulations, food safety standards, and traceability practices 
• Experience with 3PLs and freight/logistics coordination 

Work Environment:

• Work from home with frequent coordination across external partners (co-manufacturers, suppliers, warehouses)
