The Heavy Civil Construction Estimator will support the preparation of
cost estimates for commercial and heavy civil construction projects. The
role includes reviewing project documents, performing quantity
calculations, developing cost breakdowns, and assisting with bid and
preconstruction activities. The individual will work closely with
project teams, vendors, and subcontractors to support accurate project
planning and budgeting. Duties include: prepare detailed cost estimates
for heavy civil and commercial construction projects; review and analyze
project plans, drawings, and technical specifications; conduct quantity
takeoffs and determine material, labor, and equipment requirements;
obtain pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; prepare bid
proposals, preconstruction submissions, and cost breakdowns; develop
cost reports, maintain cost estimate documentation, and track
assumptions; assist in preconstruction planning and preliminary
scheduling project resources based on cost data; perform site visits to
evaluate existing conditions and verify quantities; coordinate with
project managers, engineers, and subcontractors regarding estimate
components; and communicate estimate results and cost-related
information to management and stakeholders.
Requirements:
At least 24 months of experience as a Construction Project Manager,
Project Engineer (Construction), Construction Manager, or Cost
Engineer (Construction)
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management,
Construction Engineering, or a related field
Ability to travel to project sites up to 20% of the time
Must be able to travel independently to project sites not accessible
by public transportation
Valid drivers license required
Experience with construction project cost analysis, budgeting, cost
forecasting, scope review, pricing evaluation, subcontractor
coordination, and general cost-awareness gained through project
lifecycle involvement in commercial or heavy civil construction
projects
