Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Health Physics Technician to work on our Radiological Controls team. Our team works a 4×10 schedule located out of our MFC with every Friday off. At Idaho National Laboratory, you’ll provide radiological work coverage and oversight, enforce radiological control requirements, ensure ALARA principles are followed, and respond to radiological emergencies as required. You’ll perform contamination surveys, personnel surveys, free-release surveys, and airborne radioactivity monitoring, review and comply with radiological work permits, and mentor radiological workers to build a strong safety culture across Idaho National Laboratory’s facilities.

Level 3: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus Technical/Vocational certification or working towards completion of formal course completion in Radiation Protection/Safety and a minimum of 3 years of experience.

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, work in confined spaces, and work in an office and field environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Working Conditions:
The work environment includes an office, public buildings, and a field environment. The field environment includes working outdoors in adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of power tools and equipment which subjects the employee to mechanical and electrical hazards. May use ladders, lasers, and vibrating equipment. Position requires use of protective clothing, wearing dosimetry, and respirator use. Position may require working rotating shift work, >8 hours/day, overtime/irregular hours, and working alone. Work on rotating shifts can be stressful and tiring because of the constant changes in living and sleeping patterns.
Job Information:
The pay range for this position is: Level #3 ($75,048– $123,804) At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
