Role Description This is a remote, entry-level, part-time role for a Graduate Developer at Agua y Saneamiento en Latinoamérica Rural. The Graduate Developer will support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software tools and platforms used in rural water and sanitation projects. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean and maintainable code, fixing bugs, assisting in code reviews, and contributing to technical documentation. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements, implementing small features under supervision, and participating in regular stand-ups or check-in meetings. The Graduate Developer will be encouraged to learn new technologies, follow best practices, and seek feedback to grow technical and professional skills.
Qualifications
- Foundational skills in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar) and basic understanding of software development principles.
- Some experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to read, understand, and write technical documentation, with clear written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to learn from feedback and mentoring.
- Comfort working independently in a remote environment, managing time effectively, and coordinating across time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest in social impact, rural development, or water and sanitation initiatives in Latin America is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with web technologies, databases, or data analysis tools is a plus but not required.
