GAAP Insurance Accountant (US GAAP Focus)

We’re building a modern finance function inside a high-growth InsurTech MGA. That means clean GAAP reporting, strong controls, and the ability to scale with precision — not patchwork accounting.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Understands US GAAP in an insurance context (this is non-negotiable)
• Can own financial reporting across entities
• Brings structure, accuracy, and consistency as we grow
• Thinks beyond process — and pushes for better, faster, smarter ways of working

What you’ll own

• Preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Full involvement in month-end and year-end close
• Journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Ensuring accuracy across general ledger and reporting outputs
• Supporting audit processes and external stakeholders
• Contributing to internal controls design and improvement
• Partnering across the business as new products and initiatives launch

This is hands-on. You’re in the detail — but you’re also helping shape how finance operates going forward.

What we’re looking for (read this properly)

You’ll need:

• 3+ years’ experience in accounting with strong US GAAP expertise
• Insurance accounting exposure (premium recognition, claims, reserves)
• Proven ability to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting
• Strong general ledger ownership
• High attention to detail — no shortcuts here

Nice to have (but not the core):

• Experience improving or implementing finance systems
• Exposure to automation / AI tools in finance
• Workday or similar systems
