Fund Accounting Manager (Tax) Full Time NEW

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fund / Tax Accounting Manager to oversee fund accounting, investor reporting, and tax compliance functions for a venture capital investment platform. This role will be responsible for managing the accounting operations of multiple venture funds and related entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors, and supporting investor relations and portfolio reporting activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong partnership accounting experience, deep knowledge of investment fund structures, and familiarity with venture capital operations, including capital calls, distributions, carried interest, and complex allocation methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for multiple venture capital funds and management company entities.
• Maintain general ledgers and oversee all fund accounting activities, including:
• Capital calls and investor contributions
• Investment purchases/sales
• Management fees
• Carried interest allocations
• Distributions to LPs
• Fair value investment accounting under ASC 820
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Coordinate NAV calculations and investor allocation schedules.
• Review fund administrator workpapers and reporting deliverables, if outsourced.
• Monitor cash management and liquidity across fund entities.

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings for partnership entities.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on:
• K-1 preparation
• Tax provisions
• Estimated payments
• International tax reporting, where applicable
• Review investor tax reporting packages and ensure timely delivery.
• Assist with tax structuring for new funds, SPVs, and investment vehicles.
• Monitor changes in tax regulations affecting investment partnerships and venture capital funds.

Audit & Compliance

• Serve as primary contact for annual fund audits and tax reviews.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide supporting schedules and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, investor side letters, and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal controls and process improvement initiatives.

Investor & Portfolio Support

• Assist with investor reporting and ad hoc LP requests.
• Prepare performance and capital activity schedules for investor communications.
• Support portfolio valuation processes and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with investor relations, legal, and operations teams on fund-related initiatives.

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and reporting processes.
• Assist with implementation and optimization of fund accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Develop scalable procedures to support growth of the investment platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 5–8+ years of accounting experience with venture capital, private equity, hedge fund, or public accounting firms serving investment funds.
• Strong understanding of partnership accounting and investment fund structures.
• Experience with venture capital fund operations and waterfall calculations.
• Familiarity with GAAP and investment company accounting standards.
• Experience reviewing or preparing partnership tax returns and K-1s.
• Proficiency with Excel and fund accounting platforms such as: Investran, Allvue, Carta, QuickBooks, NetSuite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Big 4 or national public accounting background.
• Experience working with emerging manager or multi-fund VC platforms.
• Exposure to international fund structures or offshore entities.
• Experience managing third-party fund administrators.
