Full Time Paramedic – Firefighter

The Village of Johnson Creek, a thriving and growing community known as the Crossroads of the Future due to their ideal location between Milwaukee and Madison along I-94 in Jefferson County, has an immediate opening for a career paramedic-firefighter in their long-standing and community-supported Fire & EMS Department.

Responsibilities include responding to calls for service, fire suppression activities, rescue, and property preservation; provides pre-hospital EMS care to patients; performs with limited supervision through Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines and established protocols and directives; maintains a state of readiness of facilities and equipment by scheduled inspections, cleaning, testing, and maintenance; promotes health and safety of the department and community through education; performs related work as required, including administrative and operational tasks to meet department goals/mission.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; possess a valid WI driver’s license; be insurable to operate Fire Department vehicles and equipment; ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions; ability to maintain a favorable working relationship with co-workers, Fire Department officials, the officials of other jurisdictions, the community, and the public. Applicants will be required to submit to a medical/physical examination consistent with the requirements of the position, which will include a drug screening. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of working with combination 911 Fire/EMS department; have excellent interpersonal communication skills; along with an ability to be a great team member.

Required qualifications at time of appointment include: State of WI Certified Firefighter I. State of WI Licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic,

Required qualifications within two years of appointment include: CEVO/EVOC Training, State of WI Certified Fire Inspector, State of WI Certified Driver Operator- Engine, State of WI Certified Emergency Services Instructor I, NIMS 700, 100, 200, 300, 400, & 800.

Salary:

Compensation for this position begins at $64,542 annually and includes a competitive benefits package including health, life, dental, and income continuation insurance; State of WI retirement (WRS); and paid-time-off upon hire.
