Founding Sales Leader Full Time NEW

Location: Remote (US). Texas a plus. Reports to: CEO / CRO Comp: Competitive base, uncapped variable, equity. Discussed with shortlisted candidates.

We’re looking for a player-coach to take Buddy from $1M to $10M in under 24 months.

Metal recycling is a $900B+ industry still run on phone calls, spreadsheets and gut feel. Buddy is changing that. We need the sales leader who turns founder-led sales into a real engine — across marketplace, SaaS and enterprise.

About Buddy

Buddy is the trading and operating layer for the metal recycling industry — one of the world’s most fragmented, relationship-driven markets. We’re building three things at once: a two-sided marketplace where suppliers and buyers list scrap and transact, a SaaS operating system that runs the day-to-day of a recycling yard, and an enterprise execution platform for the largest multi-yard operators. An AI layer across all three turns the knowledge currently locked in traders’ heads, phone calls and ad-hoc spreadsheets into structured, compounding data.

Founder-led, backed by large strategic investors, customers already include some of the largest scrap operators in North America.

What you’ll own

• The number. $1M → $10M across marketplace fees, SaaS subscriptions and enterprise contracts.
• The motion. Codify how we sell across marketplace activation, SaaS adoption and enterprise rollout.
• The team. A hungry, motivated core team is already in seat — your job is to coach them and hire the Drivers around them: the hunter-wired AEs and SDRs who carry quota.
• AI as leverage. We expect more output per head than a traditional team because we expect AI to do the work that used to need three more bodies.
• RevOps and the CEO data line. Pipeline data, forecasting, dashboards, operating rhythm — clean enough for the CEO to trust at a glance.
• Founder partnership. Sell alongside the co-founder on enterprise, feed product/pricing insight to the other co-founder.

The first 30 days

Embed in every active deal, talk to customers, audit the CRM and playbooks. By week two: a written read on the motion. By week three: forecasting model and CEO dashboard live, first hunter hire underway. By week four: operating rhythm running.

Required

• Proven growth track record. You’ve personally taken an early-stage company from ~$1M to $10M+ in revenue — not joined a $50M org and carried a region. You can point to the numbers, the timeline, the team you built and the deals you closed.
• Player-coach by temperament. You enjoy carrying a quota alongside the team you build.
• You’ve hired, coached and exited AEs and SDRs.
• A genuine drive for clean revenue ops — forecasts you’d defend in front of a board, dashboards you’d put on the CEO’s screen.
• You run a team with AI as real leverage, not as a side project.

Strong nice-to-haves

Marketplace or two-sided experience. Both transactional and subscription revenue in the same role. Enterprise sales inside an early-stage company. Industrial / commodity / logistics buyer experience.

Not for you if

• You want to manage from above the fray, you’ve only sold inside companies with a working motion, or you think AI is overhyped and would rather just hire more bodies.
