About the Role

As the Family Support/Family Coach Supervisor, you will lead and strengthen the core of Safe Families programming by equipping volunteers, supporting parents in crisis, and building meaningful community partnerships. You will play a vital role in creating extended family-like support systems that bring stability, dignity, and hope to families.

This role is ideal for someone who is both highly relational and strongly organized—someone who can lead with empathy while making thoughtful, sound decisions that prioritize child safety and family well-being.

Core Responsibilities

Program Oversight & Volunteer Support

• Lead, coach, and support a network of Family Coach and Family Friend volunteers, fostering a culture where volunteers feel equipped, encouraged, and effective.
• Recruit, assess, and train volunteers with care and discernment, including conducting interviews and home studies when applicable, and making approval decisions.
• Ensure volunteers effectively support parents in identifying and achieving goals related to family stabilization.
• Maintain regular, supportive check-ins with volunteer teams (Circle of Support), proactively addressing challenges and strengthening relationships.
• Provide responsive, on-call support to staff and volunteers during urgent or crisis situations.
• Oversee the quality of care provided to families, ensuring their basic, developmental, and emotional needs are consistently met with excellence and compassion.

Intake, Matching & Case Management

• Serve as a key point of contact for incoming referrals, managing communication through phone, email, and partner agencies with professionalism and warmth.
• Screen referrals using established risk thresholds and sound judgment to determine program fit.
• Guide parents through the intake process, helping them identify strengths and set clear, achievable goals.
• Collaborate with leadership to determine appropriate placements and create strong matches between families and volunteers.
• Maintain accurate, timely records in the Case Management System, including notes, progress, and outcomes.
• Assist in coordinating placements, transportation, and support services to ensure families and volunteers are set up for success.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

• Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, church partners, and community agencies.
• Develop and sustain a consistent referral pipeline to meet program goals.
• Represent Safe Families through outreach, networking, and community engagement opportunities.
• Help connect volunteers, churches, and community members to strengthen support networks for families.

Training, Development & Quality Assurance

• Track and report key data related to volunteer engagement, family outcomes, and program impact.
• Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain current knowledge of Safe Families practices through professional development opportunities.

General Responsibilities

• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and organizational activities.
• Support fundraising efforts and community events that advance the Safe Families mission.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, confidentiality, and child protection standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Social Work, Psychology, Education, Nursing, or related field)
• Experience working with at-risk children and families (professional or lived experience)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively
• Experience recruiting, training, or supervising volunteers (preferred)
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Reliable transportation and willingness to transport children if needed
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
• Commitment to supporting the mission of Safe Families for Children

Desired Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with faith-based communities
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience
• Public speaking and community engagement experience
• Fluency in Spanish (preferred)
• Knowledge of child welfare, family preservation, and safeguarding practices
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment

• Successful completion of all required background checks, including child abuse and neglect screening and fingerprinting (as applicable)
• Ongoing compliance with organizational safety and protection policies
