Full Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a positive impact by supporting student communication and learning as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This full-time, onsite contract offers the rewarding opportunity to facilitate understanding for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You’ll attend classes alongside assigned students, interpreting instructional and auditory content, and sometimes re-teaching or clarifying information to ensure deep comprehension. Fostering meaningful social interactions between students and their hearing peers is also a key part of this important role.
Your work week will run Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with time off during teacher planning and professional learning days. The caseload will be confirmed prior to the start date. You’ll collaborate closely with educators and staff to create an inclusive, supportive environment.
What You Bring:
- Active Georgia Licensure and Credentials
- An EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Active Georgia Educator’s Certification
- Previous experience in educational interpreting, especially with high school students, is strongly preferred
- Availability to be onsite full-time for the entirety of the assignment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable transportation
