Position Summary:
The Drain Cleaning Specialist is responsible for providing professional drain cleaning and sewer service for residential and commercial customers. This position handles drain stoppages, sewer backups, camera inspections, basic troubleshooting, customer communication, and clean, professional job completion. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in solving problems, serving customers well, working safely, and leaving every job better than they found it. The right person will be reliable, customer-focused, mechanically inclined, and willing to take ownership of the full service experience from arrival through job completion.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform residential and commercial drain cleaning services.
· Clear stoppages in sinks, tubs, floor drains, main lines, sewer lines, and other plumbing drainage systems.
· Use drain cleaning equipment, sewer machines, cameras, locating tools, and related service equipment safely and professionally.
· Communicate findings, options, and next steps clearly to customers.
· Document work performed with accurate notes, photos, and service information.
· Identify potential plumbing repair or replacement opportunities and communicate them through the proper process.
· Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and properly care for company tools and equipment.
· Work with dispatch and customer service to provide timely, professional service.
· Follow company safety procedures and protect customer property while performing work.
· Represent Action with professionalism, honesty, and a service-first attitude.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has drain cleaning or plumbing service experience and enjoys solving problems for customers. They are comfortable working in residential and commercial settings, using service equipment, communicating clearly, and doing the job right even when the work is dirty or difficult.
Required Qualifications:
· Residential or commercial drain cleaning, plumbing, maintenance, or mechanical experience.
· Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and drain cleaning equipment safely, or a willingness to learn.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned calls.
· Ability to document work accurately and follow company procedures.
· Clean, professional appearance and respect for customer property.
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with sewer cameras, line locating, jetting, or sewer/drain diagnostics.
· Experience with residential and light commercial flooring systems.
· Plumbing apprentice, journeyman, or related certifications preferred but not required.
· Experience with jetting, camera inspections, locating, or sewer diagnostics.
· Experience with ServiceTitan, Service Factor, or similar service software.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
· Work is performed primarily in residential, commercial, and industrial customer locations.
· Regular exposure to wet, dirty, and unsanitary conditions associated with drain and sewer systems.
· Work may be performed in confined spaces, crawl spaces, basements, utility rooms, and outdoor environments.
· Frequent travel to customer locations throughout the service area is required.
· May be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, odors, and other environmental factors.
· Participation in an on-call rotation, evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods.
· Ability to work in confined spaces and access difficult-to-reach areas.
· Ability to safely operate drain cleaning machines, hydro-jetting equipment, sewer inspection cameras, and related tools.
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Must possess the physical stamina necessary to perform manual labor throughout the workday.
