Description We are looking for a Discovery Paralegal to support a busy civil litigation defense practice in Newport Beach, California. This contract opportunity is suited for a detail-focused individual who is comfortable working with complex case materials, large volumes of documents, and fast-moving deadlines. The ideal candidate brings strong technical ability, sound judgment, and the confidence to contribute quickly across active matters with limited direction.
Responsibilities:
Prepare written discovery materials and supporting documentation for attorney review, filing, and service within required deadlines.
Work directly with clients to obtain records, factual details, and case-related materials needed to support discovery efforts.
Oversee discovery workflows across multiple litigation matters at once while maintaining organization and accuracy.
Coordinate the collection, review, and production of high-volume document sets in accordance with case requirements.
Maintain files within eDiscovery and document management platforms, ensuring materials are properly uploaded, categorized, and accessible.
Apply Bates numbering and perform quality checks to confirm productions are complete, consistent, and production-ready.
Assemble discovery packets and related materials so attorneys can use them efficiently in ongoing case work.
Respond effectively in a high-volume environment by prioritizing competing assignments and keeping deliverables on track. Requirements – At least 3 years of litigation experience, including substantial hands-on work with discovery tasks.
Demonstrated proficiency with eDiscovery software and document management systems used in legal environments.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and maintain productivity in a fast-paced setting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with professionalism in client-facing interactions.
Excellent attention to detail and a consistent focus on producing accurate, high-quality work.
Proven ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and contribute with minimal supervision.
Experience handling large document collections and preparing timely, error-free production materials.
