CineMed is a healthcare education company with 40+ years of domain expertise and established partnerships with leading medical associations and healthcare institutions. We operate across digital learning, professional credentialing services, and live medical events.

We are profitable, bootstrapped, and at a deliberate inflection point. The next chapter is a technology platform that extends our existing services into a scalable, software-driven model — and this hire leads that build.

This is not a product management role, and it is not an IT director role. We need someone who can design platform architecture, recruit and lead a small engineering team, and ship working software — simultaneously. If you have done this at an early-stage company, you know what we are describing. 

THE OPPORTUNITY

A significant segment of the U.S. healthcare education market still runs on manual, high-friction processes that have not kept pace with what modern software can do. CineMed has the domain expertise, the client relationships, and the market position to change that — we are missing the technical foundation to build it.

The details of what we are building will be shared in the interview process. What we can say publicly: it is a multi-user workflow platform in a compliance-driven healthcare context, targeting institutions where administrative efficiency and scale are measurable and valuable.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN IN YEAR ONE

• Own all technical architecture decisions — cloud infrastructure, data model, security, and compliance foundations — built from the ground up
• Recruit, onboard, and manage a small distributed engineering team; establish the standards, cadence, and culture they will operate in
• Ship a working MVP within six months, validated with real clients in our existing network
• Own the technical roadmap and translate it into a phased plan that leadership can act on and communicate externally
• Build the engineering foundation — process, documentation, tooling — that scales as the team grows

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5–10+ years in software engineering with meaningful time in a technical leadership role — you have built systems, not just managed people who build them
• Experience as a founding or early engineer — you have made architecture decisions with incomplete information and no committee
• Hands-on platform and backend depth: cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), API design, authentication, data modeling, security fundamentals
• Experience hiring and managing distributed or offshore engineering teams effectively
• Familiarity with compliance-driven software environments — healthcare experience is a plus, not a requirement
• Product instincts: you think in user journeys, not just tickets; you can participate in client conversations and translate them into technical decisions
• Clear, direct communicator — you will present roadmap, tradeoffs, and progress to senior leadership in plain language, regularly

• You need an engineering team already in place to be effective 
• Your background is primarily product management without hands-on technical depth
