About Rare Disease Research (RDR)

Rare Disease Research (RDR) is an independent clinical trial site network dedicated exclusively to rare disease studies. We partner with biopharma sponsors and CROs to deliver consistent, high-quality execution across complex and often pediatric trials. This is not a “keep the pipeline warm” role. This is a build-the-engine role.

The Opportunity

You will own outbound business development across biopharma sponsors and CROs, using an account-based strategy to originate, shape, and close opportunities. You will not just sell access to sites – you will help define how trials are executed. If you’ve ever been frustrated watching good science stall because of operational failure, this is your chance to fix it.

What You’ll Do

Enterprise Outbound Sales (Core)

• Develop and execute an account-based BD strategy targeting rare disease sponsors and CROs
• Build and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities across Phase I-III programs
• Lead outreach, relationship development, and deal progression with clinical, ops, and procurement stakeholders
• Position RDR as a strategic execution partner – not just a vendor

Deal Strategy & Execution

• Shape proposals and bid defenses in collaboration with clinical and operations teams
• Participate in study feasibility, startup discussions, and early program design conversations
• Navigate complex buying processes across sponsors and CROs

Account Management

• Own key sponsor/CRO relationships post-close in partnership with operations
• Identify expansion opportunities across programs and portfolios

Marketing & Growth Infrastructure

• Implement and optimize CRM to support scalable BD
• Manage external marketing vendors & systems and align them with BD goals
• Translate marketing activity into measurable pipeline contribution

Conference Strategy & Industry Presence

• Own RDR’s conference circuit strategy
• Maximize ROI from events, including the Rare Trials Summit
• Represent RDR in high-value industry settings and curated meetings

Qualifications

• 2-5 years in business development selling clinical research services
• Direct experience selling to biopharma sponsors and/or CROs
• Strong understanding of clinical trial operations
• Demonstrated success in outbound / hunter-style roles
• Ability to operate credibly with VP/SVP-level stakeholders
• Experience with account-based sales strategies
• Comfort working cross-functionally with clinical and operational teams

Bonus (not required, but useful):

• Rare disease experience
• Experience with decentralized trials / home health models
• CRM implementation or optimization experience

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 depending on experience and performance-based bonus/ commission tied to revenue generation
