About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Data Engineer I (Analytics Engineering) to join our team and contribute to building and scaling Capital Rx’s analytics foundation. This role is pivotal in developing high-quality, analytics-ready datasets and establishing a consistent metrics and semantic layer that power reporting, self-service business intelligence, and operational insights. The successful candidate will work extensively with dbt and Snowflake to design durable data models, define trusted business metrics, and ensure data quality through testing, documentation, and observability practices. Collaborating closely with operational, product, and analytics stakeholders, you will translate complex business questions into reusable data products that enable data-driven decision making and measurable outcomes. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong SQL skills with experience building analytics datasets in a modern cloud data warehouse (preferably Snowflake)
• Hands-on experience with dbt core, including model development, tests, documentation, macros, and deployments
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling, facts and dimensions, grain, and slowly changing dimensions (SCD)
• Experience in defining and managing metrics, translating business logic into KPI definitions, and maintaining metric governance
• At least 1 year of experience delivering production-grade analytics models, marts, or BI-ready datasets (internships or co-op experience may be considered)
• Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines

Responsibilities

• Partner with operational and analytics teams to translate business needs into analytics-ready data models, curated data marts, and reusable datasets
• Build and maintain dbt projects, including staging, intermediate marts, model layering, macros, exposures, and source freshness monitoring
• Design and evolve dimensional models, including facts, dimensions, and SCD patterns, aligned with key business domains
• Define and own metrics end-to-end, establishing KPI logic, naming conventions, calculation rules, and governance standards
• Maintain a metrics and semantic layer to ensure consistent KPI definitions across tools and teams
• Implement data quality practices such as dbt tests, constraints, anomaly detection, and monitoring to ensure data reliability
• Develop comprehensive documentation and enablement assets, including dbt docs, data lineage, data dictionaries, and onboarding guides
• Optimize data warehouse performance and cost-efficiency through SQL tuning, incremental models, and appropriate data design choices in Snowflake
• Adopt disciplined software engineering practices including Git workflows, peer reviews, CI/CD checks, version control, and environment promotion
• Proactively identify and resolve data issues, ensuring system reliability and data integrity
• Provide ongoing support for critical analytics data products, participating in on-call rotations as needed
• Adhere to Capital Rx’s Code of Conduct, including reporting any non-compliance issues
