About The Role

The Department of Health Policy and Management is seeking a dedicated Research Data Analyst to join the team supporting the Johns Hopkins Drug Supply Chain Data Dashboard. This platform is a comprehensive, university-wide initiative designed to facilitate data-driven health care services research across Johns Hopkins University. The primary objective of this role is to analyze and interpret complex datasets related to drug supply chains, import/export activities, and regulatory impacts to generate actionable insights. The successful candidate will serve as a core contributor to health policy research projects led by Dr. Mariana Socal, focusing on critical issues such as drug shortages, supply chain disruptions, and strategies for enhancing resilience and transparency within the U.S. pharmaceutical supply network. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research that addresses national health system challenges through sophisticated data analysis, modeling, and visualization techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in data analysis or research
• Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS
• Experience with data management, pipeline development, and ETL/ELT processes
• Knowledge of database systems and experience integrating complex datasets (e.g., FDA, DailyMed, NDC, import/export databases)
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret large datasets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Collect, organize, and manage data from multiple sources related to drug supply chains and regulatory activities
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality and consistency
• Conduct statistical analyses and generate models to support research hypotheses
• Design and prepare tables, visualizations, and reports to illustrate analytic findings clearly and effectively
• Support the development of dashboards, reports, and calculations, including programming tasks as needed
• Assist in the development and tuning of machine learning models for predictive analytics
• Integrate and harmonize complex datasets to facilitate comprehensive analysis
• Perform error analysis and recommend improvements to data processes and models
• Contribute to infrastructure development for data cleaning, processing, and experimentation
• Mine data resources to develop key performance metrics and business intelligence tools
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to support research objectives and deliverables
• Engage in other research-related activities as assigned by project leads
