About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Health Data Analyst to join our research team at UMSN. This full-time, term-limited position is funded through a grant and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research evaluating the effects of disasters and community-level emergencies on health and healthcare utilization. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to analyze large healthcare datasets, develop robust statistical models, and support evidence-based interventions aimed at enhancing community resilience. The role involves designing and implementing data processing workflows, ensuring data quality, and preparing comprehensive reports and publications. This position provides a platform to apply advanced analytical skills in a meaningful context, supporting public health initiatives and policy development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, health informatics, or applied economics; Master’s degree or higher preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of programming, data management, and/or analytics experience
• Proficiency with statistical software such as Python, SAS, Stata, or R for data management and analysis
• Experience managing large, complex datasets, including administrative healthcare data
• Knowledge of RDBMS/SQL relational databases and non-relational databases
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and emerging analytical techniques
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex statistical concepts clearly and effectively
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Up-to-date with current methodologies and best practices in data analysis and statistical modeling

Responsibilities

• Utilize advanced statistical methods to analyze data from diverse sources, including large administrative healthcare databases
• Develop and implement efficient coding solutions for data processing using tools such as Python, SQL, SAS, Stata, or R
• Create and maintain processes for evaluating data quality and accuracy to ensure reliable results
• Assist in developing detailed analysis plans under the supervision of the principal investigator
• Prepare comprehensive statistical methods and results sections for presentations, reports, and scholarly manuscripts
• Collaborate with team members to interpret findings and translate results into actionable insights
• Stay current with emerging analytical techniques and incorporate them into ongoing projects
• Support data management activities, including cleaning, validation, and documentation
• Contribute to grant writing, project proposals, and dissemination of research findings
