Join Our Team of Crash Technicians for the U.S. Department of Transportation
We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals to contribute to public safety by studying motor vehicle crashes in Vermillion and Vigo Counties, IN.
This is a permanent, full-time position as a Crash Technician in the Crash Investigation Sampling System, a program funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). Our work helps improve vehicle safety standards and protect lives across the country.

About the Role
As a Crash Technician, you will:
- Investigate crash scenes to document and photograph damage, road conditions, and any potential vehicle safety issues.
- Work closely with police, hospitals, insurance companies, and salvage yards to gather crucial crash information.
- Help uncover safety trends that guide life-saving improvements in vehicle design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze police crash reports.
- Conduct interviews with vehicle occupants involved in crashes.
- Collect and securely handle sensitive documents and data.
- Maintain meticulous records and files.
- Continue learning about emerging vehicle safety issues through ongoing training.
Position Requirements:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Licensing: A clean, valid driver’s license.
- Skills: Basic proficiency with digital cameras, Windows-based computers, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Background: Ability to pass a USDOT background check to obtain security clearance.
- Work Conditions: Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
