Construction Superintendent for Paving and Milling Full Time NEW

American Asphalt Paving Co., a local road and site construction company located in Shavertown, PA (near Wilkes-Barre, PA) is seeking a skilled CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT to oversee Paving/Milling/Sitework.

We are seeking an ambitious, self-starter with high energy levels along with excellent supervisory and strong leadership skills. A Construction Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of their specific construction crew. The Foreman will report directly to the Construction Superintendent and meet with them daily to review scheduled projects.

• PAVING SUPERINTENDENT/FOREMAN candidates must possess strong knowledge in all aspects of paving with an emphasis on quality, production efficiencies, material yield and quantity requirements; have a solid understanding and experience in reading site plans and specs; have excellent math skills; be familiar with ordering materials and scheduling trucks; and have a thorough knowledge of maintaining and operations of paving equipment.
• MILLING SUPERINTENDENT/FOREMAN candidates must possess strong knowledge in all aspects of milling with an emphasis on production efficiencies and quality as well as all preparation in anticipation of the paving crews that follow; have a solid understanding and experience in reading site plans and specifications; have excellent math skills; be familiar with ordering and scheduling trucks; and have a thorough knowledge of maintaining and operations of milling equipment.
• SITE SUPERINTENDENT/FOREMAN candidates must possess strong knowledge of all aspects of site preparation. Candidate should be knowledgeable in earth moving, drainage, subbase prep, sidewalk and curb prep, etc. with an emphasis on quality, production efficiencies as well as material yield and quantity requirements. Foremen should have a solid understanding and experience in reading site plans and specs; have excellent math skills; be familiar with ordering materials and scheduling trucks; and have a thorough knowledge of maintaining and operations of site and grading equipment.

Responsibilities:

• The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and coordinating the daily work activities, job site organization, reading of plans, determine layout placement, and monitor quality control. The foreman will verify measurements, quantities, grades, material and trucking requirements to ensure compliance with the contract documents and job sheets.
• Organize job site goals, timelines, and meet production and materials budgets. Read and relay job information from the plans, work orders, and contracts to other crew members.
• Prepare daily electronic timecards and field diaries.
• The Superintendent may be required to perform other labor/operator related tasks as necessary in assisting crew with job completion.
• Superintendent are responsible for the safety of their crew and conducting daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) with the crews that address tasks and safety issues and conditions that may be of concern on particular projects or are of inherent safety issues with the particular work being performed.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Skills:

• The Superintendent will have 3-years prior experience supervising a crew in a supervisor or foreman capacity; have strong team leadership skills, and possess a good attitude toward co-workers, supervision and customers.
• The successful candidate will have 3 years’ experience working in road construction on highway, municipal, private, and PennDOT work.
• OSHA-10 certification and CDL-A preferred.
• Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Job is a preferred, but not necessary.
• Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, may be required as needed.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
