DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Duties
This is the journey level. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower class of Construction Inspector I, or, when filled from the outside, require prior construction inspection experience. Appointment to the higher class requires that the employee be performing substantially the full range for duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class. A Construction Inspector II works under general supervision and is expected to perform the entire range of field inspection work requiring a complete knowledge of construction inspection principles and practices. Work in this class is distinguished from that of Construction Inspector I by the greater complexity of the assignments received and by the greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to operate.Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ability To
Experience And Education
Two-year degree or completion of a certificate program in Construction Management or Construction Supervision and Inspection plus one year of sub professional engineering experience or journey level public works/utility construction experience preferably including some construction inspection experience.
OR
Two years experience comparable to that of a Construction Inspector I in the City of Sacramento.

PROOF OF EDUCATION
Should education be used to qualify for this position, then proof of education such as, but not limited to, university/college transcripts and degrees should be submitted with your application and will be required at the time of appointment. Unofficial documents and/or copies are acceptable.
An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States must have education records evaluated by a credential’s evaluation service. Evaluation of education records will be due at time of appointment.
Special Qualifications
Probationary Period:
Employees must complete twelve (12) months of probation at a satisfactory performance level prior to gaining permanent status.
Driver License
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License at the time of appointment. Loss of the Class C License is cause for discipline. This requirement may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for individuals with disabilities.
Residency Requirement
Employees in this classification must reside within thirty-five (35) air miles from the freeway interchange at W-X Streets, 29th-30th Streets within one year following appointment.
