To Apply for this Job Click Here We are seeking an experienced Construction Accountant to support the financial operations of a well-established excavating and civil construction company. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with hands-on experience in job costing, WIP reporting, cost-to-complete analysis, and municipal billing who understands the financial flow of heavy civil and site work projects.
Construction Accountant Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Perform cost-to-complete analysis and track project financial performance
- Monitor job costs, budgets, and forecasts for active projects
- Support municipal and public sector billing, including:
- Requisitions / pay applications
- Progress billing
- Tracking approvals and collections
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with job progress
- Work closely with project managers to reconcile costs, quantities, and percent complete
- Maintain job cost data and project records within Procore
- Assist with month-end close related to job costing and project accounting
- Provide financial insight related to:
- Civil site work
- Vertical construction
- Pump stations and infrastructure projects
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting best practices
Construction Accountant Qualifications
- 4–6 years of construction accounting experience, preferably within excavating or civil construction
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Job costing
- Cost-to-complete reporting
- WIP schedules
- Experience with municipal / public sector billing and requisitions
- Proficiency with Procore (required)
- Solid understanding of civil construction environments, including:
- Civil site work
- Vertical construction
- Pump stations
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
