Cellar Technician – 5+ yrs Experience Full Time NEW

Title: Cellar Technician (9am – 5pm)

Shacksbury Cider is a cider company located in Vergennes, Vermont. We produce hard cider under our own brand, and provide copacking services to a number of other brands, including Non-Alcoholic and RTD cocktails.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleaning and Sanitation: Perform all CIP (clean in place) and manual cleaning of all cellar equipment. Perform daily, weekly and monthly cellar cleaning tasks to ensure a clean and organized work space.
• Batch Preparation and Blending: Weigh and measure raw ingredients for all blends according to written batch sheets. Assist with blending, filtration, and transfer operations under the supervision of the Cellar Manager. Inoculate cider fermentations and make additions to ensure healthy fermentations.
• Quality Control and Documentation: Ensure batch sheets are properly filled out with ingredient lot numbers. Deliver samples for quality analysis. Report any ingredient discrepancies or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements. Follow all company policies to ensure compliance with Organic, Non-GMO, and other regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be reliable, punctual, and engaged.
• A desire to learn new things and a curiosity about how things work
• Accurately follow and complete work instructions
• The ability to work both independently and as a team member
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around pumps, valves, hoses, and pressurized systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work consistently on your feet.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one preferred.
• Ability to commute or relocate to Vergennes, Vermont.
• 5+ years of experience in beverage industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time and walk; use fingers, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist, bend and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift or carry up to 60 pounds and manipulate and/or move up to 155 pounds. Use of arms above the shoulder is sometimes required. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires manual dexterity and ability to quickly move hand(s), hand with arm, grasp, manipulate or assemble. The employee operates a motor vehicle/forklift.

WORKING CONDITIONS

● The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Employees must wear PPE ear and eye protection at certain times, as directed.

SUMMARY

As a Cellar Technician, you will be integral to the brewing process, ensuring the highest quality standards in production and sanitation. Reporting to the Head Brewer, you will utilize your mechanical knowledge and experience in manufacturing and brewing to maintain equipment and oversee fermentation processes. Your proficiency in HACCP and CGMP will ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Additionally, your skills in packaging and warehouse operations will support the efficient distribution of our craft beer products.
