Bioinformatics has emerged as a field concerned with storing, manipulating, and extracting valuable information from contemporary biology, intertwined with technology. Bioinformatics research is poised to become one of the fastest-emerging markets in India. To cater to changing trends in biological science research and the incorporation of machine learning, the Diploma in Bioinformatics, a one-year program, aims to train young minds with the basics and advanced data analysis methods and tools in biological science. The course will be an advantage and an asset for learners intending to be associated with industries as well as research and development in the field of applied Biology.
Curriculum: The PG Diploma course, comprising sixty credits spread across 10 modules, incorporates regular theory, practicals, and capstone projects. These modules will be completed over two semesters, spanning one year, which includes assessments. Lectures, Practical sessions, and demonstrations will be held (3 days/week – 4 hours/day). Minimum 75% attendance, regular class participation, submission of regular assignments, and an expert-guided method of evaluation are the minimum requirements for the completion of the course.
Duration: July 2025 to June 2026
Evaluation: At the end of each module, students will undergo evaluation through written tests, practical exams, or other assessment methods tailored to the module & requirements and learning goals. Moreover, lab exercises and assignments submitted throughout the course will be assessed. The end-of-course evaluation will include the submission of a mandatory project.
Eligibility Criteria: The following students are eligible to apply for the course:
- Completed a bachelor’s degree or master’s Degree in biological science streams.
- Currently pursuing M.Sc. I / II year in Biological Sciences (specialization in subjects of Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Life Science / Botany / Zoology) / BTech / MTech / B Pharm / MPharm/ Chemistry student with a background in Biological science field till their SY level.
- Ph.D. students or working professionals with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences are eligible to apply.
