About The Role

We are seeking experienced backend engineers to join our Core Backend team. This role involves designing and maintaining reliable, scalable systems that handle fragmented yet high-value data crucial to our AI-driven decision-making platform. As a key member of this team, you will develop services, data models, pipelines, and evaluation loops that contribute directly to the core infrastructure of Kalepa’s AI ecosystem. Your work will improve data completeness, enhance decision transparency, and increase the value of our products.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our infrastructure supports the development and deployment of intelligent solutions that make insurance decisions faster, more accurate, and explainable. Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python; strong candidates from other object-oriented backgrounds are also considered
• Solid understanding of system design, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, EC2
• Familiarity with asynchronous workflows and cloud environments
• Knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Excellent communication skills and proactive stakeholder engagement
• Ability to take full ownership of projects and drive them to completion
• Comfort with experimentation, measuring results, and iterating rapidly
• Bonus: experience with large language models, generative AI, distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and data pipelines that support AI decision-making processes
• Build and optimize data models to ensure data quality, completeness, and accessibility
• Create evaluation loops and systems to measure and improve model performance
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and other engineering teams to deliver robust solutions
• Implement and maintain cloud-based infrastructure, leveraging serverless and asynchronous technologies
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high reliability and uptime
• Contribute to technical documentation, best practices, and code reviews to uphold engineering standards
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve system capabilities
