Assistant Principal (10 months) – Maple West Elementary School Full Time

10 months/school year

The Assistant Principal will serve as a member of the Maple West Elementary School leadership team under the direction of the Principal to foster and facilitate a culturally responsive and inclusive community that empowers all students to develop their unique potential and thrive as learners, citizens, and leaders in a diverse global community. Applicants must demonstrate an asset-based perspective, a track record of successful teaching, an orientation towards teamwork, and hold high expectations of students and colleagues. Our Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following Qualifications

• Minimum of five years successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and/or administration.
• Graduate study beyond the Master’s degree with emphasis on Elementary school (K-4) curriculum, supervision, and/or administration.
• A valid New York State SAS, SBL or SDA certification by Board appointment date.
• Demonstrated ability to:
• provide leadership and work effectively with staff members, colleagues, parents, and others in the educational community;
• use creative problem solving and decision-making skills to
• provide a positive learning environment resulting in continuous improvement for students and staff; and,
• speak and write clearly and effectively.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

The successful candidate can expect the following responsibilities :

• Familiarity and experience with trauma informed teaching, discipline practices and multi-tiered systems of support
• Experience with students of various abilities across a wide range of special education programs
• Knowledge of IEPs, 504 Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans and experience with assisting students and faculty to ensure fidelity and progress monitoring
• Assists the principal in the supervision and evaluation of classroom instruction.
• Assists in implementing instructional strategies, including supporting the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction.
• Assists in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching environment at the elementary school, especially as it relates to the area of students, personnel policy and procedures and general building
• Supervises and evaluates professional and support staff assigned to the building.
• Coordinates support staff services within the building, i.e., custodial, clerical, cafeteria monitors, and educational aides.
• Carries out disciplinary procedures as established by the building and/or District.
• Assists in screening, interviewing and recommending candidates for professional and support staff positions.
• Assists with developing the master schedule based on student need, manages student scheduling, and determines room utilization.
• Coordinates student activities and events, e.g., field trips, co-curricular and/or extra-curricular, wellness events
• Develop, update, and maintain all emergency plans, including fire and evacuation as well as isolation, and conduct related drills.
• Coordinates and supervises the administration of examinations, state assessments related data reporting and state reports.
• Along with the principal, coordinates placement of student teachers.
• BEDS Coordinator
• Field trips – planning and participation
• Assembly programs – planning and participation
• Supervise events and activities outside normal school hours.
• Assumes all responsibilities of the Principal in the Principal’s absence.
• Assumes responsibility for other tasks as assigned by the Principal.

SALARY: Starting at $82,250 – $110,750

Per Williamsville Administrators’ Association contract & experience.
