About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff AI/ML Full-Stack Engineer to join our AV Pipelines & Lineage team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive software solutions that support the end-to-end AI lifecycle within GM’s autonomous vehicle initiatives. Your work will involve creating scalable web applications, building robust backend services, and implementing cloud infrastructure on platforms such as GCP or Azure. You will lead complex technical projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, UX designers, and platform engineers, and mentor junior staff. This role emphasizes technical depth, system design, and impactful product development, focusing on infrastructure products that empower GM teams to perform machine learning and data science at scale. This is a hands-on role that does not involve developing machine learning models directly but focuses on enabling the infrastructure that supports AI development across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including full-stack development
• Proven experience in building and operating production-grade web applications
• 3+ years of experience leading and driving large-scale technical initiatives
• Proficiency in building scalable infrastructure on cloud platforms using languages such as Python, C++, or Golang
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
• Strong understanding of system scalability, reliability, and security
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain user-facing web applications and internal tools used by autonomous vehicle engineering teams
• Build scalable backend services and APIs to support frontend functionalities, ensuring system security, reliability, and performance
• Create modern, responsive user interfaces utilizing frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar technologies
• Collaborate with UX designers and product teams to deliver intuitive and efficient workflows
• Design and implement cloud solutions on GCP or Azure, including distributed data processing pipelines
• Take ownership of technical projects from conception through deployment, contributing to product roadmaps and making strategic technical decisions
• Participate in team planning, code reviews, and design discussions, proactively managing project impacts across teams
• Conduct technical interviews, onboard new engineers, and mentor junior staff to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth
