Description
We are partnering with a well-established global logistics organization to hire an Accounting Operations Supervisor with strong NVOCC experience. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting operations tied to ocean freight, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and process efficiency across high-volume transactions.
Position Overview
This role sits at the intersection of accounting and logistics operations. You will lead day-to-day accounting functions while supporting NVOCC activities, including billing, cost control, and financial reconciliation tied to international shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations including AR, AP, billing, and reconciliations
Manage financial processes related to NVOCC activities (ocean freight, consolidations, and deconsolidations)
Ensure accuracy of freight billing, vendor payments, and cost allocations
Review and reconcile shipment-level profitability and variances
Supervise and mentor accounting staff; drive accountability and performance
Partner with operations teams to align financial and logistics workflows
Ensure compliance with FMC regulations and internal controls
Assist with month-end close, reporting, and audit preparation
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience within logistics, freight forwarding, or NVOCC environment
Prior supervisory or leadership experience
Strong understanding of ocean freight accounting and NVOCC financial workflows
Experience with ERP systems and/or CargoWise strongly preferred
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical mindset
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage high-volume transactions
Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
