Accountant / Sr. Accountant Full Time

Position Overview:

We are strengthening our client’s accounting team and are looking to hire accounting talent with a strong focus in accounts receivable. Candidates may be considered for either a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant level role depending on experience, scope of responsibility, and overall fit.

These roles will support core accounts receivable activity, customer account accuracy, payment application, reconciliations, close support, audit readiness, and process improvement.

At the Staff Accountant level, this role will focus more heavily on transaction processing, documentation, customer account updates, reconciliations, and support for month-end close. At the Senior Accountant level, this role will carry greater ownership over AR aging, subledger to general ledger reconciliation, management reporting, account analysis, issue resolution, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may vary based on level, but may include:

• Process and record customer invoices, incoming payments, and related accounts receivable activity with accuracy and proper support.
• Apply customer payments to the appropriate accounts and research discrepancies as needed.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and support timely follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Research and resolve billing issues, short payments, customer disputes, and account discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate customer account information, including payment terms, contact information, credit details, and account updates.
• Reconcile customer accounts and support AR subledger to general ledger reconciliation.
• Prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and account analysis for management review.
• Prepare and post AR-related journal entries, including accruals, reserves, bad debt activity, or other related entries depending on role level.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to accounts receivable.
• Review electronic remittance activity and reconcile payment details against accounting records.
• Coordinate with third-party logistics, distribution partners, or external reporting sources to resolve differences between external reports and internal accounting records.
• Prepare AR aging, cash activity, DSO, and other receivables reporting as needed.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation, schedules, and account support.
• Ensure accounting activity is completed in accordance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable accounting standards.
• Maintain organized financial records and support clean documentation practices.
• Serve as backup support for related accounting functions when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve AR workflows, reporting, documentation, accuracy, and overall efficiency.
• Provide guidance or support to junior team members as needed for senior-level candidates.
• Support ad hoc accounting projects and help strengthen process consistency across the accounting team.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience required for Staff Accountant consideration.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred for Senior Accountant consideration.
• Accounts receivable, cash application, customer account reconciliation, or general accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a senior, lead, or high-ownership AR role preferred for senior-level consideration.
• Experience with third-party logistics, distribution, external receivables reporting, or related operational accounting preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, documentation, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting monthly close, audit requests, account analysis, or management reporting preferred.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition concepts, including ASC 606, preferred for senior-level candidates.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data review, and account analysis, preferred for senior-level candidates.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, distribution, regulated industries, or similarly complex environments preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable asking thoughtful questions.
• Able to work independently while also partnering well with others across the finance and accounting team.

Benefits of working with the team:

Compensation will be aligned to experience level, scope of responsibility, and final role placement. The anticipated salary range for these opportunities is $75,000 to $130,000.

Candidates with earlier-career accounting experience may be considered for a Staff Accountant level role, while candidates with deeper AR ownership, close support, reporting, reconciliations, and process improvement experience may be considered for a Senior Accountant level role. Final title, compensation, and scope will be determined based on experience and overall fit.
