About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. This vital role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and provides essential support for both club-level and corporate operations. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for executing monthly close activities, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and supporting audits. The role involves managing various accounting functions related to revenue, expenses, fixed assets, debt, and cash flow, while maintaining a focus on accuracy and timeliness of financial results. Additionally, the individual will assist with ad hoc analysis and projects that support strategic business decision-making, contributing to the overall financial health and transparency of the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-location service-based industry
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes
• Experience with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite Financials or similar platforms
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written

Responsibilities

• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, amortizations, and allocations using Oracle NetSuite Financials
• Analyze and reconcile accounts related to general & administrative, direct, and indirect expenses
• Maintain debt schedules, interest calculations, and record debt-related journal entries for short- and long-term debt
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, and capital expenditures, utilizing Oracle NetSuite Fixed Assets module
• Review vendor invoices to classify capital expenditures versus repair & maintenance expenses according to GAAP guidelines
• Manage financed equipment schedules and related journal entries for debt reporting
• Prepare and file property tax returns for each legal entity
• Analyze utilities expenses and calculate monthly accruals considering seasonal variations
• Support balance sheet reconciliations and prepare account schedules to ensure GAAP compliance
• Record cash activities and reconcile bank accounts regularly
• Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to ensure accurate expense reporting
• Partner with departments to resolve Profit & Loss statement inquiries from field management
• Assist with impairment analysis of fixed and intangible assets
• Support external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation
• Participate in special projects and perform ad hoc financial analysis as required
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned to support the finance team
