Description
Accountant – Accounts Payable, Hybrid.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a fast-moving financial services organization in Stamford, Connecticut. This position supports essential accounting operations with a focus on payables, general ledger activity, and cross-border payment processing. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a high-volume environment and can maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, assigning proper accounting codes, and preparing timely payments.
Record journal entries and support general ledger accuracy through consistent documentation and reconciliation practices.
Process domestic and international payments, ensuring transactions are completed correctly and in line with internal controls.
Handle foreign currency-related payment activity and assist with tracking exchange-rate impacts where applicable.
Verify invoice details, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with internal teams or external vendors to address payment issues.
Maintain organized financial records and contribute to month-end accounting tasks to support timely reporting.
Assist with day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced trading environment, balancing deadlines and changing priorities.
Requirements
Requirements:
At least 2 years of accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to accounts payable functions.
Working knowledge of journal entries and foundational general ledger processes.
Experience processing invoices, coding expenses, and supporting accurate financial records.
Familiarity with international payments and foreign currency transactions is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven setting.
Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software tools.
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and with outside contacts.
