About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Development Engineer to join our dynamic team working on Health100, an AI-native health technology platform. This platform unifies pharmacies, providers, insurers, PBMs, and digital health solutions into a single, consumer-focused ecosystem powered by Google Cloud AI. As a key member of our product team, you will collaborate with engineers, UX designers, and product managers to develop high-quality, user-centric products that transform healthcare experiences. Your expertise will help guide the technical direction, ensure scalable and maintainable solutions, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence. This role offers flexibility with remote or hybrid work options and can be based anywhere in the United States, with a preference for candidates near our corporate headquarters in Woonsocket, RI.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Java development experience, including Spring Boot and Spring MVC, delivering enterprise solutions within large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, backend systems, and working with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Azure, along with end-to-end DevOps pipelines.
• 2+ years of experience applying Agile methodologies, including continuous integration (CI/CD) and test-driven development (TDD).
• Proven ability to operate independently with a strong sense of ownership and to mentor junior engineers effectively.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices in scalable system development.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and set technical direction and standards within an Agile environment, actively participating in sprint ceremonies and guiding architecture and engineering best practices.
• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, user-focused software solutions, making critical architectural decisions and conducting design reviews to ensure maintainability.
• Develop and maintain high-quality codebases across both frontend and backend components, utilizing TDD, code reviews, and mentoring to elevate engineering standards.
• Serve as the primary technical escalation point, resolving complex issues, unblocking dependencies, and providing authoritative technical judgment on high-risk initiatives.
• Coordinate releases, ensure production readiness, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, security, and platform teams to translate business goals into actionable technical plans.
• Maintain a user-centered approach in product design and development, ensuring solutions meet customer needs and business objectives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, recommending innovations to improve platform performance and reliability.
