Buyer Planner
Rohnert Park, California USA – Permanent contract – As soon as possible
Position Summary
Facilitates the procurement of materials and related services for production and NPI.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for the procurement of items at the most favorable price consistent with rigorous quality standards, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors
Proactively manages purchase orders with suppliers including: expediting shortages, resolving past due purchase orders, executing cancellations, reschedules and communicates changes in vendor commitments to appropriate LEMO departments
Places orders from approved order requisitions or from QAD MRP system requirementsReads and understands MRP reports, stocking reports, material variance reports, load reports, and capacity planning tools
Supports Capacity Plans based on available resources using sales forecasts, MRP Reports, and by interfacing with Manufacturing work centers.
Places and manages work orders against capacity constraints to plan shop floor requirements. Pushes out, cancels, releases, and expedites work orders as required
Identifies customer order confirmation discrepancies and takes appropriate corrective actions
Verifies data accuracy (part numbers, planning parameters, BOMs, costs) in MRP; reports problems to appropriate parties
Enters new items into QAD as necessary, maintains item planning parameters, maintains tariff codes, creates and modifies “Bills of Material” to support Manufacturing work centers.
Evaluates suppliers using established criteria (price, lead times, quality, on-time deliveries, and issue resolution) on an annual basis and provides quarterly supplier evaluation information to the Purchasing & Planning Manager
Coordinates with Engineering, Quality and Product & Applications on the development of new projects related to supplier selection and material specifications and seeks out alternate suppliers as partners based on price, lead times, and quality
Responsible for reducing material costs through vendor analysis, quality, schedule, and cost evaluation. Applies cost effective measures as related to support standard costs and make/buy decisions
Maintains systems data including: supplier contact information, pricing, lead-time, sourcing rules, quality, MOQ’s and other information required for proper MRP logistics
Documents correspondence with suppliers regarding open orders, price, and other business imperatives, and files together with Purchase Orders for easy retrieval
Develops and maintains written procedures for job responsibilities
Enters data accurately and according to the work instructions / company policies
Functions as a back-up to the Purchasing & Planning Manager

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or 5 years work experience in related industry accompanied by demonstrated success in a manufacturing purchasing environment
CPM or APICS CPIM/CSCP or equivalent preferred
Experience with machined and assembled products
Knowledge of Oracle MRP preferred
Knowledge of inventory management techniques, MRP, and ERP systems
Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Good ability to troubleshoot and solve problems; strong critical thinking
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
