Summary
Under general supervision, provides Computed Tomography (CT) examinations for diagnosis and treatment of patients in ANMC clinics.
Responsibilities
All
S chedules patients for CT examinations and performs CT studies. Evaluates the nature of critical and emergency procedures and arranges patient priorities. Receives patients, explains method of examination, and prepares patient for imaging.
P erforms and completes routine examinations. Confers with radiologists to establish protocols for nonstandard examinations. Maintains records of patients imaged, type of examinations performed and protocols used. Monitors examinations by checking computations, performances and results of the selected parameters to obtain effective diagnostic computer generated data and images.
U nder guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to protocol. Reviews CT consents. Reviews patient chart for lab and order information. Performs safety checks on patients. Complies with all safety policies and regulations.
E nsures imaging equipment is operated within the manufacturer’s guidelines. Records computer data on appropriate archiving database. Assists with quality control and improvement. Monitors and implements technological improvements in CT.
R eports any equipment or application problems. Cleans and sanitizes equipment and workspace. Monitors stock of imaging supplies and ensures reorder.
M aintains technical competency through clinical education and participation in company sponsored training programs. Maintains current certifications.
A dheres to principles of ALARA. Uses available radiation protection devices and follows all policies relating to radiation safety for self, coworkers and patients.
P erforms other duties as assigned.
C T TECHNOLOGIST II
A cts as a mentor for CT Technologist I’s. Cross trains Technologists and students.
D emonstrates strong knowledge of procedure for a patient emergency in CT .
T akes on additional tasks as assigned by Lead Technologist and/or CT MRI Technologist Supervisor.
C T TECHNOLOGIST III
A cts as a mentor for CT Technologist I’s and II’s. Cross trains technologists and students.
M asters all skill areas and takes challenging cases. Assists in improvements and processes in the department. Able to proficiently build protocols.
E xpert knowledge of patient safety practices, ALARA, Image Gently teaching others .
T akes on leader role in absence of lead technologist.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
C ompletion of an accredited diagnostic imaging program recognized by the American Registry of Radiologist Technologists (ARRT). Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Non- Supervisory: Two (2) years of professional CT operation experience
C T TECHNOLOGIST II
Non-supervisory: Four (4) years of professional CT operation experience
C T TECHNOLOGIST III
Non-supervisory: Six (6) years of professional CT operation experience
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

M ust be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
M ust possess and maintain a certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
C T Technologist I
M ust be registered in Computed Tomography (CT) or Registry eligible and pass the CT within six (6) months of start of position.
C T Technologist II, III
M ust be registered in Computed Tomography (CT)
