Database Assistant Full Time

Duties

• Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server
• Support database administration tasks including backups, recovery, user access management, and security protocols
• Conduct performance tuning to optimize query execution times and overall database responsiveness
• Develop and execute scripts using Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting, and other scripting languages to automate routine tasks
• Collaborate on ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) to facilitate data integration and migration
• Monitor high availability configurations to minimize downtime and ensure continuous database access
• Assist in troubleshooting database issues by analyzing logs, performing diagnostics, and implementing solutions

Experience

• Proven experience working with SQL-based databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools for database management
• Knowledge of performance tuning techniques for large-scale databases and queries
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages like Bash or Shell Scripting for automation purposes
• Understanding of database design principles including normalization, indexing, and schema development
• Exposure to ETL processes and tools such as SSIS or similar data integration platforms
• Ability to perform database backups, recovery procedures, and high availability configurations effectively
