About the Role

The Vice President of Medical Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing clinical and healthcare operations across the organization. This executive role ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, compliant, and patient-centered care services while aligning operational performance with strategic and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the overall strategy and execution of medical and clinical operations across all facilities and service lines

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and internal quality benchmarks

Oversee clinical workflow optimization, patient care delivery systems, and operational efficiency initiatives

Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and administrative teams to improve care coordination

Develop and implement performance metrics, KPIs, and continuous improvement programs

Manage budgets, operational costs, and resource allocation for medical services

Drive patient safety, quality assurance, and risk management programs

Lead hospital or healthcare network expansion, integration, or transformation initiatives

Oversee workforce planning, staffing models, and clinical scheduling efficiency

Partner with IT and data teams to enhance EHR systems, digital health tools, and data-driven decision-making

Support regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation processes

Build and mentor high-performing clinical operations leadership teams

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, or related field (Master’s preferred; MBA or MHA highly desirable)

15+ years of experience in healthcare or hospital operations

5+ years in senior leadership or executive roles in medical or clinical operations

Strong understanding of healthcare delivery systems and regulatory environments (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA)

Proven experience managing multi-site or large-scale healthcare operations

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical background (MD, RN, or equivalent healthcare professional experience preferred)

Experience in hospital systems, health networks, or large healthcare organizations

Strong background in healthcare transformation, value-based care, or operational excellence programs

Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, EHR platforms, and digital health solutions

Experience in both public and private healthcare sectors
