🚨 Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Operator — Fractional CFO Firm
📍 Remote | Part-Time | QBO-First | Multi-Client Environment
🚫 This is NOT a traditional bookkeeping job
We are a fractional CFO firm supporting SaaS, technology, and growth-stage companies. We need a senior-level accounting operator — someone with enough experience to walk into any client environment, know immediately what’s wrong, and fix it without being managed through it.
The core of this role is client-facing bookkeeping and accounting operations across multiple growth-stage companies. You’ll own the accounting workflows that keep client books clean month over month, coordinate directly with founders and operators, and consistently deliver accurate, audit-ready financials.
Beyond the fundamentals, we expect you to actively look for ways to work smarter — automating manual reconciliations, using AI tools to accelerate cleanup work, and building workflows that eliminate recurring bottlenecks.
You do NOT need to be a CPA.
You DO need to be fast, accurate, organized, proactive, and genuinely good at this.
🔎 WHAT THIS ROLE ACTUALLY IS
You are the person we send into messy accounting environments to create order.
On any given week you might be:
✅ Owning month-end close across multiple client QBO environments
✅ Diagnosing why a client’s P&L doesn’t make sense and tracing it to the source
✅ Cleaning up a chart of accounts someone built incorrectly
✅ Coordinating with payroll, AP, or expense teams to fix accounting issues
✅ Identifying manual workflows and building something better
✅ Flagging AR aging issues before they become cash flow problems
✅ Using AI or automation tools to speed up recurring accounting work
This is NOT:
❌ AP-only bookkeeping
❌ Data entry
❌ A heavily managed corporate accounting role
This IS:

✅ CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
📊 Client Accounting Operations (Primary)
• Own monthly bookkeeping and close across multiple client environments
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and operational accounts
• Manage AP/AR workflows and collections follow-up
• Identify and correct misclassifications, broken workflows, and COA issues
• Coordinate directly with founders, operators, and finance teams
• Deliver clean, accurate recurring financials without heavy oversight
• Proactively identify inefficiencies and eliminate them
• Explore and implement AI/automation tools to improve speed and scalability
🏢 Internal Accounting Support (Ongoing)
• Monthly bookkeeping for internal business and real estate entities
• Maintain clean, reconciled books on a recurring basis
🧠 REQUIRED PROFILE
✅ Must Have
• 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting operations experience
• Deep QuickBooks Online proficiency
• Experience cleaning up messy accounting environments
• Experience supporting multiple entities or clients simultaneously
• Strong written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently and create momentum without constant direction
• Strong organizational and operational mindset

📅 30 / 60 / 90 DAY PLAN
📍 Day 30 — Get Clean
• Clean up and stabilize internal business books
• Reconcile accounts and normalize the COA
• Document recurring workflows
• Identify automation opportunities
📍 Day 60 — First Client Owned
• Fully own at least one client bookkeeping environment
• Run monthly close independently
• Coordinate directly with client teams
• Deliver recurring financials consistently
📍 Day 90 — Fully Deployed
• Own internal bookkeeping operations
• Support multiple active clients independently
• Flag issues before they escalate
• Improve workflows, not just maintain them
💰 COMPENSATION & STRUCTURE
• Hourly contractor role
• 20-40 hrs/month initially, expandable over time
• Fully remote — open globally for strong candidates
