π¨ Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Operator β Fractional CFO Firm

π« This is NOT a traditional bookkeeping job
We are a fractional CFO firm supporting SaaS, technology, and growth-stage companies. We need a senior-level accounting operator β someone with enough experience to walk into any client environment, know immediately whatβs wrong, and fix it without being managed through it.
The core of this role is client-facing bookkeeping and accounting operations across multiple growth-stage companies. Youβll own the accounting workflows that keep client books clean month over month, coordinate directly with founders and operators, and consistently deliver accurate, audit-ready financials.
Beyond the fundamentals, we expect you to actively look for ways to work smarter β automating manual reconciliations, using AI tools to accelerate cleanup work, and building workflows that eliminate recurring bottlenecks.
You do NOT need to be a CPA.
You DO need to be fast, accurate, organized, proactive, and genuinely good at this.
π WHAT THIS ROLE ACTUALLY IS
You are the person we send into messy accounting environments to create order.
On any given week you might be:
β Owning month-end close across multiple client QBO environments
β Diagnosing why a clientβs P&L doesnβt make sense and tracing it to the source
β Cleaning up a chart of accounts someone built incorrectly
β Coordinating with payroll, AP, or expense teams to fix accounting issues
β Identifying manual workflows and building something better
β Flagging AR aging issues before they become cash flow problems
β Using AI or automation tools to speed up recurring accounting work
This is NOT:
β AP-only bookkeeping
β Data entry
β A heavily managed corporate accounting role
This IS:
π₯ Senior-level operational accounting across multiple businesses simultaneously
β CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
π Client Accounting Operations (Primary)
β’ Own monthly bookkeeping and close across multiple client environments
β’ Reconcile bank, credit card, and operational accounts
β’ Manage AP/AR workflows and collections follow-up
β’ Identify and correct misclassifications, broken workflows, and COA issues
β’ Coordinate directly with founders, operators, and finance teams
β’ Deliver clean, accurate recurring financials without heavy oversight
β’ Proactively identify inefficiencies and eliminate them
β’ Explore and implement AI/automation tools to improve speed and scalability
π’ Internal Accounting Support (Ongoing)
β’ Monthly bookkeeping for internal business and real estate entities
β’ Maintain clean, reconciled books on a recurring basis
π§ REQUIRED PROFILE
β Must Have
β’ 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting operations experience
β’ Deep QuickBooks Online proficiency
β’ Experience cleaning up messy accounting environments
β’ Experience supporting multiple entities or clients simultaneously
β’ Strong written and spoken English
β’ Ability to work independently and create momentum without constant direction
β’ Strong organizational and operational mindset
