About The Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Ruby Engineer to join our remote team, based in the USA or Canada. In this full-time role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining production-grade systems capable of handling hundreds of millions of API calls daily. Your work will directly support the infrastructure that powers secure file transfer and automation for our enterprise clients. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Ruby, with opportunities to contribute to Golang, Python, and other parts of our technology stack. This role offers a unique chance to work on high-scale, high-availability systems within a collaborative, engineer-first culture that values autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning.

As part of your responsibilities, you will own features end-to-end, from design to deployment, and collaborate closely with infrastructure, frontend, and product teams. You will work on a variety of projects, including microservices, large-scale integrations, and new initiatives such as AI-powered content discovery and zero-trust file sharing. The role provides a platform to solve complex scale challenges, optimize performance, and contribute to open-source communities, all within a supportive environment that fosters growth and leadership development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in backend development, particularly with Ruby and Rails
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, and cloud integrations (AWS, Azure, S3)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools
• Proficiency in testing frameworks such as RSpec, Minitest, and Factory Bot
• Knowledge of Golang, Python, or full-stack development is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to optimize high-scale systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core backend features and services
• Own the full lifecycle of features, from concept through deployment and support
• Build scalable, reliable systems capable of handling hundreds of millions of API calls daily
• Contribute to microservices architecture, integrating Redis, Elasticsearch, and cloud services
• Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable deployments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Conduct code reviews, write comprehensive documentation, and uphold coding standards
• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations for system efficiency
• Engage in continuous learning and contribute to open-source projects when applicable
