Nursery Associate Full Time

Bethany Farm and Nursery is a retail and wholesale garden center and plant nursery. We are looking for a hardworking, plant-loving individual to join our team as a Part-Time Nursery Associate. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a passion for horticulture, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful, healthy environment for plants and customers alike. You will be responsible for the daily care of our inventory, assisting customers with plant selections, and ensuring the nursery remains organized and professional.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant Care: Daily watering, weeding, and pruning to ensure all stock remains in peak condition.
• Customer Service: Greet customers, answer basic questions about plant varieties (sun/shade requirements, etc.), and assist with loading plants into vehicles.
• Inventory & Maintenance: Help unload incoming shipments, label new stock, and arrange displays for optimal visual appeal.
• Facility Upkeep: Maintain clean walkways, organize tools, and assist with general greenhouse or nursery grounds maintenance.
• Sales Support: Assist at the point-of-sale (POS) system and process transactions accurately.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Prior experience in a nursery, garden center, or landscaping role is preferred but not required (we are willing to train the right candidate).
• Knowledge: Basic understanding of plant health, pests, and local hardiness zones is a plus.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Reliability: Must be punctual and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends during the peak spring/summer season.
• Language: English. Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, or cold). Work environments are in the outdoor yards and in greenhouses.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods (4–6+ hours).
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs (bags of mulch, potted trees, or heavy flats) repeatedly.

Schedule & Benefits

• Job Type: Part-time (typically 16–30 hours per week).
• Schedule: Friday availability is highly preferred, along with one of either Saturday or Sunday.
• Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour. Prior work experience will be considered.
