Strategic Accounts Manager Full Time

Role Description

The Strategic Account Manager will own sales account strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio of national retail and value-channel partners, including off-price, club, dollar, and value retailers. This role will manage key relationships across the pet products category, with a core focus on pet beds and pet accessories, drive revenue targets, lead forecasting and business planning, and collaborate cross-functionally to align pet product and marketing initiatives with each retailer’s unique needs and buying model.

This role requires prior experience selling pet beds or pet accessories into national retail accounts. Experience with off-price retailers such as TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, or Ross is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and grow a portfolio of national accounts spanning off-price, club, dollar, and value channels (e.g., TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Costco, Ross, etc.).
• Develop and execute tailored account strategies for each retail partner, accounting for their distinct buying cycles, assortment philosophies, and promotional structures.
• Build and maintain strong senior-level relationships with buyers, planners, and key stakeholders across all assigned accounts.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, promotions, and merchandising programs to drive mutual growth and protect margin.
• Manage end-to-end sales processes including annual planning, forecasting, promotions, post-performance analysis, and inventory coordination.
• Leverage deep pet-industry and pet specialty channel knowledge to inform account strategies and product/marketing alignment.
• Monitor market and competitor trends across assigned accounts to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risk.
• Partner with marketing, product development, operations, and finance to ensure successful program delivery and margin management.
• Manage annual and multi-year sales budget and resource allocation to maximize ROI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field; MBA a plus.
• 5–8+ years of national account sales experience, preferably within pet products, pet beds, pet accessories, pet soft goods, consumer goods, home, or adjacent categories.
• Prior experience selling pet products, especially pet beds or pet accessories, into national retail accounts is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing accounts in off-price, club, dollar, or value retail channels.
• Experience negotiating and managing large-scale retail partnerships.
• Deep understanding of off-price and value-channel buying dynamics, assortment strategies, and vendor compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools.
• Ability to travel nationally as needed.
