Cloud Engineer, Junior Full Time NEW

Blu Omega is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer to join their innovative team at NOAA, supporting the CIRRUS project. In this role, you will help transform weather data management through modern cloud solutions, contributing to critical weather prediction and analysis efforts that benefit public safety and scientific research.

Clearance Needed

U.S. citizenship or permanent residence status is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness clearance is also necessary.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced engineers to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and deploy microservices and manage cloud resources in AWS.
• Use containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher to build microservice-based solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud environments and optimize performance.
• Contribute to NOAA’s mission by ensuring robust data ingestion, processing, and storage solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent education.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform.
• Proficiency with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher).
• Strong Linux skills and scripting proficiency.
• Ability to obtain and retain required security clearances.

Nice To Have

• 1+ years of experience with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Terragrunt.
• Knowledge of OS, application, and container security hardening.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies.
• Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Application Developer, Kubernetes Administrator, or Terraform Associate.

Salary Range: $80K- $120K

Our final salary offer will be based on several factors, including depth of technical skills, work experience, education, certifications, and clearance
