About MSU Denver Family Literacy Adult Education
MSU Denver Family Literacy Program consists of three programs – Adult Education, Parents as Teachers, and Early Family Literacy.
You will be working in the Adult Education side of FLP which includes English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, and Family Literacy activities.
General statement of duties
MSU Denver Family Literacy Program is looking for a Digital Literacy Tutor to provide Digital Literacy instruction via the Northstar Digital Literacy platform for ESL, GED, and Family Literacy program participants. This is an Administrative Hourly position subject to the planning and frequency of digital literacy needs of the Family Literacy Program’s student body. This position is run with funding via the Adult Education and Literacy Act (AELA).
Reports to: Robb Gallegos – Director of Adult Education
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide direct classroom instruction, including one-on-one tutoring, in digital literacy to adults using approved Northstar Digital Literacy curriculum
Maintain student accounts on the Northstar administration platform
Assist learners with password creation and recovery
Hold proctored module tests that lead to Northstar module certification
Work with the Parent Facilitator on digital literacy needs of the INSPIRE Family Literacy Program in conjunction with Westminster Public Schools.
Track student progress toward certification attainment and report outcomes to the AELA Navigator and Director of Adult Education
Outreach to program participants for cohort participation including marketing to participants of other areas of the Program and to encourage usage among digital literacy participants
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Ability to teach online, in-person at offsite locations, and possibly during evening hours
Experience with digital learning management platforms
Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, or advanced digital skills to quickly learn new learning management systems
Broad knowledge and skill with instructional techniques and strategies to think critically and proactively adapt instruction to meet student needs and challenges including students across Spanish, English, and English as a Second Language Speakers
Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in adult education or related field
Experience developing and/or delivering @contextualized/student-centered instruction
Bilingual Spanish speaker strongly preferred
Ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of immigrant, low income, and diverse urban populations

Schedule, Salary, and Terms of Employment:
The hourly rate for this position is $25/hour.
This position is required to enroll in a PERA retirement account. This potion is not benefits eligible

Evenings and Weekend Work: Flexibility to work occasional evening hours as needed for student meetings, recruitment and marketing purposes.
Schedule: In person. Work will take place at educational centers partnering with MSU Denver Family Literacy including in Westminster (7125 Mariposa St, Denver, CO 80221) and Commerce City (6450 Holly St, Commerce City, CO 80022). Program office is the Quigg Newton Community Center (4440 Navajo St, Denver, CO 80211). The Family Literacy Program does not run programming during the month of July.
