As the Operations and Finance Manager for Fractile (an affiliate company of Clark Construction), you are a strategic partner to the leadership team of a rapidly scaling construction technology firm.
Fractile is poised for explosive growth, with a mandate to 10x the business through a captive client base and clear market demand. While the company possesses a top-tier product and a strong talent team, we need a builder to construct the infrastructure required to scale. You are tasked with institutionalizing the processes that will allow Fractile to evolve from a high-potential venture into a structured, dominant industry player.
This is a high-visibility role for a professional who possesses the “operational rigor” of a controller, the strategic mindset of a consultant, and the “bias for action” of an entrepreneur. You will manage, lead, and “get your hands dirty” in all things finance and operations to drive financial health and portfolio-wide optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Stewardship & Project Controls
Financial Lifecycle Management: You will serve as the financial backbone of the business, ensuring meticulous control from project inception to completion. This includes expert setup of new projects and budgets, and the timely processing of monthly pay applications/invoices.
Reporting & Insights: Go beyond simple reporting to provide the “so-what.” You will prepare comprehensive monthly job status reports and financial statements, providing a clear picture of Fractile’s health to executive leadership.
Cash Flow Optimization: Manage the “nuts and bolts” of the business by setting up vendors, managing internal software systems, and meticulously processing invoices to ensure timely payments and healthy cash flow.
Operational Readiness & Process Architecture
Process Institutionalization: Proactively identify operational bottlenecks and undefined workflows. You will be responsible for building and documenting the scalable standard operating procedures (SOPs) required to support a 10x growth trajectory.
Scalable Workflows: Design and implement strategies, templates, and processes that boost efficiency and elevate quality control across all operational activities.
Automate for Accuracy: Manage and evolve our reporting systems, building automated, reliable information streams that empower rapid decision-making and reduce manual administrative burden.
Strategic Growth & Forecasting
Financial Modeling: Partner closely with leadership to develop robust financial forecasts and models to evaluate new lines of business, staffing requirements, and expansion opportunities.
Strategic Planning: Play an active role in annual budgeting and long-term planning, translating complex financial data into actionable intelligence that shapes Fractile’s future.
Market Intelligence: Support the acquisition of new work by synthesizing financial capabilities into winning strategic proposals and helping leadership understand market-informed research.
Qualifications
4-7 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, construction management, or high-growth operations.
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
Analytical Powerhouse: Strong technical abilities, including expert proficiency in Excel. Experience with databases, SAP, or other analytical tools is highly valued.
Builder Mindset: A desire to build processes from scratch rather than just managing existing ones.
Ability to navigate ambiguity: You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where the path forward isn’t always clearly defined.
The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
The Physical Side of the Role: Given that a good portion of your day will be spent at a desk, you should be comfortable with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it’s collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. The role demands effective communication and sharp visual acuity for reviewing complex documents and performing detailed computer work. While there are times for quiet concentration, you’ll also be expected to move actively throughout the office and travel occasionally to various locations, including dynamic construction sites, utilizing different modes of transportation. The ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds on occasion (think a box of files or small office equipment), is also required.
Your Work Environment: Your primary workspace will be in our professional office, which has a typical, quiet-to-moderate noise and light levels. As part of your work, you may also be required to visit active construction sites. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment. Your safety is our top priority, and you’ll be expected to follow Clark Construction’s safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations.
Our High-Performing Culture: This is a demanding, high-performance environment. We are looking for candidates who are energized by challenge, thrive under pressure, and are prepared to do what it takes to achieve exceptional results. Success in this role requires significant commitment, including flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines. Beyond regular working hours, there will be occasions where business needs require your attention, particularly for time-sensitive matters or emergencies. You are expected to monitor and respond to communications (phone calls, emails, text messages) as required to address these situations effectively. Your ability to manage these expectations and be responsive when critical issues arise is key to your success in this role and our collective success as a team.
A Drug Free Workplace: Clark promotes a drug free workplace. A pre-employment drug “fitness for duty” screening is required, and the company conducts random quarterly drug “fitness for duty” tests.
