Processing Specialist Full Time

The Great Salt Lake Brine Shrimp Cooperative, Inc. of Ogden, UT is seeking to hire a full-time Processing Specialist.

This position starts at $18.00 per hour!

Work Schedule: Full-Time Hours
This position follows a rotating weekly schedule:

• Week 1: Sunday through Wednesday
• Week 2: Sunday through Tuesday, plus Saturday
• All shifts are 12 hours, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

General Summary:

The position is primarily responsible for the preparation (washing/separating/drying) of brine shrimp eggs prior to packaging.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to: Preparing brine shrimp eggs for packaging through a multi-stage cleansing and drying process.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Self-starter. Ability to read/speak/write, in English, a limited number of 2 and 3-syllable words and to print and speak simple sentences, also in English. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Must be able to work SAFELY in a general warehousing and production facility environment.

Working Conditions:

Indoor. Exposure to non-weather wet or humid conditions. Consistently work near and with moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and with toxic or caustic chemicals. May work in high or precarious places. The work environment is subject to vibration, fluctuations between heat and cold, and noise levels that are often loud.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work long hours as needed. The majority of time requires standing, walking, use of hands to finger, handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. To a lesser extent, requires an ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear. Ability to repeatedly lift 50 LBS and up to 100 LBS on occasion. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

May require forklift certification
